[Solved] Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path

Hey all, I'm trying to use World Community Grid, and whenever I launch the run_manager a window comes up, these errors are thrown, then the window closes.

(boincmgr:3826): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "xfce",

(boincmgr:3826): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "xfce",

Exiting...

I have the gtk2-xfce-engine installed, but the stack trace makes it look more like pixbuff is failing to read a picture. I tried re-installing lib32-gdk-pixbuff2, and got the same thing.

Does anyone have any ideas of what's going on here?

Re: [Solved] Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path

I would change your thread title to something like "SIGSEGV: segmentation violation (boincmgr)"'.

First, your current thread title might just mean you can't find something to change a theme and people will just think you should read the wiki. They may be inclined to tell you this but they may just pass onto something else.

Second, it may well not identify the error you really care about which is, I assume, the segmentation one. It's a generic error and may have nothing to do with the problem. acroread says that anytime I start it from the command line but it carries on regardless. I've seen that sort of complaint a bunch of times from apps which have worked just fine. So it may well be unrelated to the segmentation issue.

Third, it doesn't identify the application giving you trouble.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what is going on or even what you are talking about (application wise) but hopefully if you sharpen your title, you will attract people who do have ideas about it.

Re: [Solved] Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path

It seems to me that GTK2 erring is what is causing the other errors, but I could be wrong. That's why I put the title I did. I'll modify it a bit, thanks.

Application wise, as I stated in the first sentence, I'm trying to work with World Community Grid. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/index.jsp

Re: [Solved] Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path

To demonstrate:

$ acroread

(acroread:25643): Gtk-WARNING **: Methu canfod peiriant thema yn module_path: "oxygen-gtk",

and acroread runs fine. (Well, as fine as it ever does.) Sorry about the language. I forgot to tell it to use English. It means just what you're seeing, though. It does not cause acroread not to launch or work. The important error is the segmentation one. I doubt the gtk error has anything to do with it. Note that it is a Warning and that is not the same as an error.

And yes, I know you say what application you are using in your post but I would suggest putting it in your subject line. You want people who know that application to read your thread as they are the ones most likely to be able to help.

Of course, it is your thread and so up to you. But your current subject line says you are seeing a common and harmless error from some application or other. That's all.

Re: [Solved] Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path

I realized that the program was in the Arch Repos, and that one worked fine.
