Hi, I am trying to activate watchdog that is a feature of VIA motherboard. I found module named via_wdt.ko that seems to be adequate, but I cannot activate it. I tried insmod... after creating /dev/watchdog . We have no return, no message in console nor log. Is there an easy description, for a newbie in this area, anywhere, that helps to install / activate wdt? From the manufacturer we have no help. The wdt hardware appears as a feature thru PCI interface. Is there a simple method, perhaps not in the watchdog api world?
By the way, if I have no wdt activated, why is it that I see various messages in /proc/kmsg , ending with "WDT device closed unexpectedly. WDT will not stop!" when we write to /dev/watchdog ?
