SOLVED: T420 thinkfan problems

Edit: since I wrote this post, apparently thinkfan finally managed to take over from auto to manual and so I hope the overhead problems will be solved -- however my fan speed is still now pegged to level 7. This is my thinkfan.conf

sensor /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp

(0, 0, 35)
(1, 33, 38)
(2, 36, 45)
(3, 39, 49)
(4, 46, 58)
(5, 50, 62)
(7, 56, 32767)

Now, cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp says 63000. Is the wiki outdated?

Solution: apparently, despite the weird value, thinkfan can drop the fan speed after you disable the turbo. Seemingly turbo pegs the CPU.

echo 1 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo
cat /etc/tmpfiles.d/no_turbo.conf
w /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo - - - - 1
