on 64 bit
nvidia+libvdpau-0.6-1 = works perfectly.
nvidia+libvdpau>0.6-1 = fails and the driver oopses.
nvidia-beta+libvdpau>0.6-1 = flash crashes from time to time, freezing the browser but the driver doesn't oops so I can just refresh hoping it won't crash again. Also I can still use optirun after the freeze, unlike non-beta version.
Is there a need for testing nvidia-beta+libvdpau-0.6-1 ?

Never mind, the nvidia-beta+libvdpau>0.6-1 just crashed with an oops. Going back to libvdpau-0.6-1 solves all the problems.

Using nvidia-beta and libvdpau-0.6-1 is working for you??
Right now the nvidia-beta package is out of date and doesn't work, so I can't try.
I hoped that with the last update for nvidia and kernel that was installed today, it would work but....nevermind, it is just the same...
And for some reason, downgrading is not working for me anymore, so I'm fucked up...

As long as I uses libvdpau-0.6-1, with libvdpau-0.6-1 it works both with former beta and the updated nvidia driver.

Are you in 32 or 64 bits system?? Because libvdpau-0.6.1 doesn't mean any different to me, I get exactly the same error with optirun and primusrun.

Hi,
I experienced exactly the same problem on a fresh install on my laptop. I have the latests nvidia and nvidia-utils packages available and libvdpau 0.7-1.
bbswitch seems t work but optirun doesn't work, with the same error as you. My dmesg and Xorg.8.log are the same as yours.
Did you find any info on this problem ?
Thanks
P.S. : My video card is also a GT 650M.
P.P.S. : bbswitch is working well. When I run optirun ***, I have the LED corresponding to my nvidia card that lights up (and the one corresponding to intel card goes blank).

Hello again,
I discovered the same error today after hopefully upgrading to Kernel 3.10.5 and nvidia 325 ... Xorg.8.log says again:

Is everyone still with the problem?? Or has anyone get it fixed??

I built the updated libvdpau without the changes that were introduced into the pkgbuild in 6.2, since I did that, it just works.

I still can't reproduce this at all.

Anyway to help with that ?

Provide me with a way that will always break it on an up-to-date [testing] system.

I also have the problem on a non testing up-to-date system. Will try to test [testing] to see if it solves the problem.

It always break in my system, and I've just updated including testing and community-testing. But it does in a differet way ussing optirun and primus. Whenever I try to start a program using them, something like "optirun glxgears" or "primusrun glxgears"
Optirun:
[ 23.869529] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: [XORG] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA GPU at PCI:1:0:0. Please
[ 23.869562] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.
Primus:
primus: fatal: Bumblebee daemon reported: error: [XORG] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA GPU at PCI:1:0:0. Please
I have a GeForce GTX 660M in an Ivy bridge system. Somewhere I read that this wasn't happening in all computers and it maybe has to be with the cpu, but I don't know if it has any sense.
EDIT: I forgot to say that the last time it worked for me was with bbswitch-0.7-4 and nvidia-319.32-2, with which I also have to use nvidia-utils-319.32-1 and linux-3.9.9-1. If now I downgrade those packages it works again.

I'm experiencing the same thing. I posted info here:

Using Nvidia gtx 660m on arch linux 64-bit. system up to date.

Everyone here seem to have either a GT 650M or a GTX 660M, maybe the problem is hardware dependent? Do someone have one of those cards without any problem?

With the new update it works again!!
