Gtk messed up after latest upgrade

After latest upgrades it seems that anything gtk-related (2 or 3) is drawn as garbage, see image on http://i.imgur.com/g57D0KS.jpg

Tiled-qt on the left looks fine, however, as does chromium.

Re: Gtk messed up after latest upgrade

I have the same problem too. the same graphic card model.
I temporarily change the driver to 'vesa' or 'fbdev' to make it render right.
but it may cause the resolution smaller.

any suggestion ?

Same here on Gnome 3. The dialog windows in Sublime Text 2 miss the buttons.

Re: Gtk messed up after latest upgrade

I managed to fix my situation simply by downgrading kernel back to 3.9.9-1. Now everything works, once again, like a charm.

I created a bug report on this here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/36307

Re: Gtk messed up after latest upgrade

Thanks orschiro, I was hoping it might be limited to ATI graphics cards.

Well, I also tried downgrading to 3.9.9-1 ... and VLC still looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/BiCUKgV.png
I don't know if it's GTK or something else that's giving me problems because I get these issues:

- Videos wont play, or will play distorted in some way... I can remedy this in VLC by resetting my settings to default for ONE video file play through, no maximizing allowed.

- Windows will flicker in and out of being visible, even if they're on another virtual desktop, this stopped after I click to bring focus to one window and move it/maximize it.

Very odd.

Re: Gtk messed up after latest upgrade

@uberscientist

I guess your VLC problem is something different. Do you encounter any other programs having graphical problems?

I think you're right,  mplayer will play videos that VLC has trouble with, but with only pink and green hues... I should probably create a new topic for this problem now that my windowing seems to be better now.

Re: Gtk messed up after latest upgrade

I temporarily fixed my glitches in Sublime Text 2 by downgrading libpng from 1.6.3 to 1.6.2.

There is also a report in the bug tracker: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/36276

Re: Gtk messed up after latest upgrade

Same here. I have the Radeon HD 4770 and the open source drivers. Reinstalled Arch from scratch twice, since I thought I messed something up in the beginners guide, but still the problem persists.

I managed to fix my situation simply by downgrading kernel back to 3.9.9-1. Now everything works, once again, like a charm.

I created a bug report on this here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/36307

I had similar problems, and downgrading kernel also fixed the problems for me. I also have Radeon HD 4770.

Re: Gtk messed up after latest upgrade

I also have a Radeon HD 4770. Same issues sad
This has nothing to do with gtk because the same happens for me  on razor-qt and sddm-qt5!

EDIT:
I found an important bug report: https://bugs.archlinux.org/index.php?do … r_id=12643
