Hello
I've been trying to get accelerated video playback on a Radeon HD6250 chip. I got it working with xvba-video and mplayer-vaapi, but I can't get cropping to work (I want to crop a wide video to 16:9)
"-vf crop" doesn't appear to be making use of hardware acceleration (video plays at 0.8fps)
The only player in which I could get this to work is xbmc - it plays and crops flawlessly, however I don't need a bloated media centre, all I need is a media player, preferably without gui..
If there's no way to do this in mplayer, is there another player that's lightweight and can do this?

Are you using the -vo vaapi option for mplayer?

yep.
I managed to sort of hack it: I made it run in window mode, and then wrote a script that resizes the window so that it's scaled properly and the parts I don't see are outside the screen, but I'm still wondering if there's a mainstream solution.

Well, sounds like an ok solution. I always had problems with VAAPI and Radeon drivers so I'm not sure there is a more mainstream solution.
