(EE) [mi] These backtraces from mieqEnqueue may point to a culprit higher up the stack.
(EE) [mi] mieq is *NOT* the cause. It is a victim.
(EE) [mi] EQ overflow continuing. 100 events have been dropped.

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ contains only 10-quirks.conf and 10-quirks.conf.
/boot/syslinux/syslinux.conf has no modeset options.

Adding config file with:
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Seems to help! Could it be glamor issue then?

Thank you! I've been looking all afternoon for a workaround to this.
Other keywords for seachers: fence driver gpu cpu

The problem seems to be solved in current versions!
Here is my configs:
$ cat 05-glamor.conf
Section "Module"
Load "dri2"
Load "glamoregl"
EndSection
$ cat 50-device.conf
Section "Device"
Identifier "Default Device"
Driver "radeon"
Option "SwapbuffersWait" "off"
Option "ColorTiling" "on"
Option "ColorTiling2D" "on"
Option "EnablePageFlip" "on"
Option "AccelDFS" "on"
Option "XV_VSYNC" "on"
Option "AccelMethod" "glamor"
#Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
EndSection
By the way, hardware acceleration seems to work:
mplayer -vo vdpau ...
