SLIM + OpenBox + systemd

Hi!
I am a ArchBang user for few hours... I'm just trying different distros for some months to see which one is best for me, so I tried already Debian,Fedora,RedHat,Ubuntu,Gentoo - it took me about 5 years smile

As I am trying to get ArchBang as much perfect for me as possible... I am trying to setup Login Manager.
I have already read about 20 posts on this forum + google materials but actually non of them helped me to solve the issue.
Most of posts are related to editing files rc.d or inittab - which does not exist in newest ArchBang because of systemd.

What is happening is that system starts exactely like before installing/configuring slim... just open X environment and does not require any login/pass

Please take a look on my config files.

1. slim is installed and I am able to preview screen by :

$ slim -p /usr/share/slim/themes/<theme name>

2. my .xinitrc :

#!/bin/bash
export BROWSER=firefox
export DE=openbox

# Dbus fix
if [ -z "$DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS" ]; then
    eval "$(dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session)"
fi

# Gtk themes
export GTK2_RC_FILES="$HOME/.gtkrc-2.0"

exec openbox-session

-> Yes, I tried with 'exec openbox-session &' and 'rc-lanuch' and I did chmod +x .xinitrc

3. my slim.conf :

# Path, X server and arguments (if needed)
# Note: -xauth $authfile is automatically appended
default_path        /bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin
default_xserver     /usr/bin/X
xserver_arguments -nolisten tcp vt07

# Commands for halt, login, etc.
halt_cmd            /sbin/shutdown -h now
reboot_cmd          /sbin/shutdown -r now
console_cmd         /usr/bin/xterm -C -fg white -bg black +sb -T "Console login" -e /bin/sh -c "/bin/cat /etc/issue; exec /bin/login"
#suspend_cmd        /usr/sbin/suspend

# Full path to the xauth binary
xauth_path         /usr/bin/xauth

# Xauth file for server
authfile           /var/run/slim.auth

# Activate numlock when slim starts. Valid values: on|off
# numlock             on

# Hide the mouse cursor (note: does not work with some WMs).
# Valid values: true|false
# hidecursor          false

# This command is executed after a succesful login.
# you can place the %session and %theme variables
# to handle launching of specific commands in .xinitrc
# depending of chosen session and slim theme
#
# NOTE: if your system does not have bash you need
# to adjust the command according to your preferred shell,
# i.e. for freebsd use:
#login_cmd           exec /bin/sh - ~/.xinitrc %session
login_cmd           exec /bin/bash -login ~/.xinitrc %session

# Commands executed when starting and exiting a session.
# They can be used for registering a X11 session with
# sessreg. You can use the %user variable
#
# sessionstart_cmd	some command
# sessionstop_cmd	some command

# Start in daemon mode. Valid values: yes | no
# Note that this can be overriden by the command line
# options "-d" and "-nodaemon"
# daemon	yes

# Available sessions (first one is the default).
# The current chosen session name is replaced in the login_cmd
# above, so your login command can handle different sessions.
# see the xinitrc.sample file shipped with slim sources
sessions            xfce4,icewm-session,wmaker,blackbox

# Executed when pressing F11 (requires imagemagick)
screenshot_cmd      import -window root /slim.png

# welcome message. Available variables: %host, %domain

# Lock file

4. my slim.service :

[Unit]
Description=SLiM Simple Login Manager
Wants=dbus.target
After=systemd-user-sessions.service

[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/bin/slim -nodaemon
Restart=always

[Install]
Alias=display-manager.service
WantedBy=graphical.target

5. slim.log reports:

/usr/bin/xauth: file /var/run/slim.auth does not exist

I found some posts regarding this issues but actually have not found any solution.

Re: SLIM + OpenBox + systemd

You will not will not get support only archlinux forums for spin off distros, you would be better off asking on archbang forums for help.

As per https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … pport_ONLY
