Do not run gnome-shell

Did a fresh install of archlinux, install xorg, xf86-video-ati, gnome3 and gdm. When I boot, gdm started, I enter the password and there is only a gray background and the mouse cursor.  My Xorg.0.log. How to solve this problem?

I never use it. Have you followed the wiki?

What did you *actually* install?  There is no "gnome3" package.  FYI, according to you logs, everything worked fine, and the results you saw are to be expected (last time I heard) if you only installed the gnome window manager without also installing all the other crap stuff like panels, and desktop manager.

EDIT: or see your exact symptoms described in the gnome wiki.
