Hi,
With the last Amarok update (v2.8), i am getting a notification at startup :
Amarok could not find any collection plugins. It is possible that Amarok is installed under the wrong prefix, please fix your installation using:
$ cd /path/to/amarok/source-code/
$ su -c "make uninstall"
$ cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` && su -c "make install"
$ kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental
$ amarok
More information can be found in the README file. For further assistance join us at #amarok on irc.freenode.net.This had happened before : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=121670

Looks like it's only me having this issue. Any more recommendations ?

Have you tried switching phonon-backend: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 00#p957600 ?
Edit there's also https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/36919 but it seems unrelated.

Ah. Removing amarok-applet folders at ~/.kde4/share/apps/ solved the issue. Thanks for the answers.

Do you think the amarok article in the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Amarok would benefit from a troubleshooting section outlining how to deal with this issue?
I don't use KDE, but I see that removing ~/.kde comes up pretty often, seems it's needed on every update.

@karol,
Yeah, removing ~/.kde solves most of the problems but you lose the customization you have done, so it's the last choice.
For most of us, removing config folders/files is the first thing which comes to mind. But i only removed "~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok" first, then i realized that there is some more folders related to Amarok at "~/.kde4/share/config/".
A quick search at home dir is useful on removing config files.
