The problem: in Dolphin for .mkv file (right click menu, Propeties, File Type Options) I move my favorite player (VLC) to the top, click OK, Update (whatever). No effect. The former Video player opens video file. What is the problem?

Edit: Disregard. It worked for some text/ files but not video/x-... So I guess I still have the same problem. ![]()
The same thing happened to me.
I deleted (probably safer to first rename)
~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.listThen I ran
kbuildsycoca4 --noincrementalI'm not sure if the first step was necessary, but it worked for me.

Have you checked the system settings match what you want as well? I assume they should reflect changes in Dolphin but maybe that's not working for all the relevant file types or something?

If you're on KDE 4.11 - it's probably this bug.

You're absolutely right. I'll be waiting for new version without this problem
