Since I upgraded to KDE 4.11 the KDE PIM components are acting up.
It takes minutes to display or send email in kmail (or kontact) while top reveals high system resource consumption by relevant processes:

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
3203 anubis 25 5 3868884 1.576g 55632 S 62.5 20.2 328:15.34 kmail
650 anubis 20 0 3383436 99480 7012 S 29.9 1.2 662:35.25 mysqld
648 anubis 20 0 2761148 28324 8128 S 20.0 0.3 448:22.29 akonadiserver

To solve this I have tried to run the following without effect:
1) nepomukcleaner
2) deleting ~/.local/share/akonadi and ~/.kde4/share/apps/akonadi
While doing 2) I temporarily disabled nepomuk in System Settings and for that duration kmail had normal response times, but after reactivating nepomuk, everything went back to hell again.
Yes, I am running kde pim 4.11.0-2 packages.
I am wondering if anybody else has problems with KDE PIM/Nepomuk/Akonadi or maybe even has a solution for this particular problem.
Edit: I presume https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=168616 is a similar problem.

I have the same problem, but unfortunatelly no solution.
I also tried deleting several configaration files with no effect.
The only way to reduce system load is killing kmail and using thunderbird.

Yeah, I still experience the same problem (although I'm on Kubuntu...)
Kmail is un-usable slow....unbelieveable that they commit changes to such an important program, without testing it properly. ![]()

Also when starting kmail from the konsole I get this message, when trying to click on a mail...
kmail2(3982) MessageList::Core::ModelPrivate::findMessageParent: Circular reference loop detected in the message tree
this seems rather unusal, right?!

as stated in a bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323740#c6 I had a duplicate folder in my Local Folders. This only became apparent when using akonadiconsole. With the browser tab there I saw that I had 'trash' and 'wastebin'. After deleting one (can't remember which), kmail went back to working properly and fast again.
