Re: Problems with running X above 8bit color depth

well there are a couple of things that i can spot.  first in your monitor section there are no vertical or horizontal refresh rates. like so:

Section "Monitor"
        #DisplaySize 360 270 # mm
        Identifier "Monitor0"
        VendorName "DWE"
        HorizSync 30-95
        VertRefresh 50-160
        ModelName "PnP Monitor"
        Option "DPMS"

second, though i have been told on occassion they are not necessary, you have no resolution modes. like so:

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen0"
        Device "Card0"
        Monitor "Monitor0"
        DefaultDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 1
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 4
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 8
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 15
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 16
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 24
                Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
EndSection

also note the stated default depth:

Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen0"
        Device "Card0"
        Monitor "Monitor0"
        DefaultDepth 24
