Dell Inspiron M5030 Resolution Issue

I have a Dell Inspiron M5030 running Arch and Awesome WM. My current resolution is 1024x768, the native resolution of the screen is 1366x768. I would obviously like to run the native resolution, but despite my valiant effort xrandr refuses to accept new modes. When I attempt to add a new mode, I get:

xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default

I suspect it is driver related, but have been unable to get any drivers other than the default to work. I will be happy to answer any further questions. Thank you in advance.
