xorg and hwd

is it necessary to install xorg if you install 'pacman -S hwd'?

... i install xorg but then install hwd and run that- so is installing xorg necessary?

Uhh, if you want to use a graphical interface, XOrg is definitely necessary.

(hwd does not depend on xorg. To find out about the depends, etc. of packages, use pacman -Si.)

you need to install xorg. Like jones said, hwd doesn't depend on xorg. hwd just generates a config for it. You don't need a config for xorg to run but its best to so you can adjust it as you need.

A side note regarding xorg.conf..........

If hwd is installed along with xorg, the following is used to access xorg.conf...

.....hwd -x
.....cd /etc/X11
.....nano  xorg.conf.hwd
