Hello,
I have been using Arch for a while now and I have to say it has been a great experience, I love it more than any distribution out there and by far. What I want to say/ask here is absolutely not a criticism as I know people are working hard everyday to keep it great.
I was just trying to compile something today and the compile script failed because I have version 0.2 of libftdi instead of version 1.0. Now I could download the new version and compile that too but that got me thinking about getting a little more involved...
I know being new in the community, I can't just access the pacman repositories and start pushing new stuff and I wouldn't know where to begin anyway, but is there a way for me to let someone know that a new version is out or just check the status? Version 0.2 is one and a half years old now and version 1.0 has been out for 8 months so maybe there's a valid reason for not doing it, I have no idea.
Anyway, I want to say again, my intention is not to offend anyone here and I hope someday in the future I can be of more help.
Thank you.
Francois

Sure, on the package page there's a link "Flag Package Out-of-Date" under "Package Actions". Get instructions and details via the question mark link.

If our currency were not money but appreciation and acknowledgement for what we do for others, for the community, for the benefit of all, we would have paradise on earth.

You can flag the package out of date.
Edit: Version 1 is in the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libftdi1/
