problem with upgrade of mplayer-plugin

just upgraded today to mplayer-plugin-3.16-1, and now i cannot play any videos in firefox (blank screen in place of the video panel).

about:plugins seems to be correct, and even after a browser restart the problem persists.

Re: problem with upgrade of mplayer-plugin

Well, it seems it's really a general problem due to 3.16 version.
A bug is already opened on this subject (FS#3271).

Re: problem with upgrade of mplayer-plugin

Wait a minute... That is exactly the same as the Totem plugin bug. And Noatun shows those symptoms with movies.

Something smells rather fishy here. Is there code that's common to all three plugins?

Re: problem with upgrade of mplayer-plugin

Seems to be working here with firefox 1.5 from testing but I have to right click and then click play before anything will start when streaming from a site.

Re: problem with upgrade of mplayer-plugin

So the result is:
it seems to work reasonably with firefox 1.5 and not at all for previous versions (I have 1.0.7 from current).

And by the way, I think  Gullible Jones is right when he points common code problem to all plugins

Re: problem with upgrade of mplayer-plugin

Really? What is the common code? Not nspr... And mplayer-plugin doesn't use dbus, does it?

(Originally, my suspicions fell on dbus, since the Totem problems started with Totem 1.4.0 - when Totem started depending on dbus version later than 0.35.)

Re: problem with upgrade of mplayer-plugin

ok, should have said : i "feel" Gullible Jones is right, but really i have no facts to show his assertion is right.

The problem persists (and i saw mplayer-plugin was out in version 3.17 since today as shown on their website)

Re: problem with upgrade of mplayer-plugin

Same problem here.

I also saw that including '--enable-x' and '--with-gecko-sdk=/opt/mozilla' failed compiling. That didn't happing in version 3.15.

Arch - It's something refreshing
