"Bumblebee daemon has not been started"

Hello,

I tried to install bumblebee with nouveau drivers for my Thinkpad T430 but when trying "optirun glxspheres" I get this error message:

[  409.497343] [ERROR]The Bumblebee daemon has not been started yet or the socket path /var/run/bumblebee.socket was incorrect.
[  409.497371] [ERROR]Could not connect to bumblebee daemon - is it running?

I didn't forget to add myself  to the bumblebee group.

What's the problem?

Hi, yes, but did also enable the bumblebeed service with systemd?

I have the same error and i added the user to the bumblebee group and enabled the servicein systemd. The kernel is a re-compiled version of the actual one, with a patch for usb device, i dont think that is an issue for bumblebee yet if i run the stock kernel installed through pacman, then bumblebee works.

If you build your own kernel, be sure to include kernel headers too. Otherwise the DKMS versions of bbswitch and nvidia cannot be built.

thanks. Just to simplify.. this was what i did for making bumblebee work in a custom kernel:

1) install nvidia-dkms (AUR)
2) install dkms-bbswitch (AUR)
3) install bumblebee (pacman repo)
