[SOLVED] New motherboard does not boot (HARDWARE PROBLEM)

This question is purely hardware related.

I've bought this mobo: gigabyte ga-h77-ds3h
with some new ram 2x Kingston KVR16N/8 (that means 16 Gigs)
and a new i5 3350p processor

Nothing else is connected to the motherboard, except the power supply. (Which works well with my older config)

When powering on, fans are turning, but the BIOS emits short beeps infinitely (it does not stop).
As far as I know, normally that means RAM is not properly seated, or not present, maybe faulty.
I've tried it with some other memory too, like 2x2 Gigs of Kingmax 1333 RAM, same result.

It looks like the mobo is not detecting RAM at all.

As it is new, I want that the seller exchanges the mobo under warranty, but I wanted to know, if I'm right.

Am I right? Maybe I'm missing something? I want to be sure before I send it back...

Maybe try another power supply? See if there's proper earthing, etc.

The psu works with my old mobo.
Tried with another psu too, same result.

I don't know much, but is your processor is compatible with your mobo or
is there any hardware conflict you got there....

Scar,

some Mobos have a check for a videocard in the Power On Self Test and fail if there's no videocard present.
Try adding a videocard.

I was thinking the same thing.  But, I looked up his motherboard, and there is an on board video card.

Mayhaps it is complaining because it cannot find a monitor?

edit: typo

Did the board come with any documentation? Can you find any documentation on the web? Can you ask the manufacturer what the beeping really means, instead of assuming you know?

Re: [SOLVED] New motherboard does not boot (HARDWARE PROBLEM)

I killed my new motherboard by bending the pins on the cpu socket. It was also a gigabyte for my new i5 ivy bridge - remarkably similar to yours. I think mine was a z77 or something,

The pins are so fragile, so easy to bend, that it might be the problem. But if you do check, be very careful in case that isn't the problem.

I looked it up too, but as expected I couldn't find any mention of onboard video because that is typically integrated with the processor, but his 3350p is a model without IGP (or with IGP part disabled).

Re: [SOLVED] New motherboard does not boot (HARDWARE PROBLEM)

I looked at this page.  It does say "Enhanced Intel HD Graphics 4000/2500 integrated with the processor"

So, you are right, if the processor does not have the IGP, he needs another processor, or he needs a video card.  That is why it is beeping.

Re: [SOLVED] New motherboard does not boot (HARDWARE PROBLEM)

OK.

First of all, everything is compatible here.

I've tried it with or without a video card (NVidia 650 and Nvidia 8600GT), both attempts failed.

The CPU socket is fine, nothing is broken there.

Documentation is a bit fuzzy, because Gigabyte says it is psu related, the BIOS vendor says, it is RAM related.

PSU works with my old config ( which consumes more power than this one).

Still no solution, but I sent it back.

Solved. Faulty motherboard, did not accept any RAM.
