Alright so it's actually not that long ago that I was having trouble connecting to the internet during my arch installation but thankfully someone here helped me out and I was able to install arch(I'm even on the same machine typing this right now!). So I got X and dwm going and then I installed "moc" (to listen to my music) and when I started it up it gave me this :
$ mocp
Can't load plugin libaac_decoder: file not found
Can't load plugin libffmpeg_decoder: file not found
Can't load plugin libmodplug_decoder: file not found
Can't load plugin libmusepack_decoder: file not found
Can't load plugin libspeex_decoder: file not found
Can't load plugin libwavpack_decoder: file not found
Running the server...
Trying JACK...
Trying ALSA...
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1022:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Trying OSS...
FATAL_ERROR: No valid sound driver!
FATAL_ERROR: Server exited!
Then I went to youtube and video played fine but there was no audio. So audio as far as I know does not work at all so far.
I have alsa-utils installed and can open up alsamixer but I have to press f6 and select another option to get any volume adjusting bar things.
Then I did :
$ amixer sset Master unmute
amixer: Unable to find simple control 'Master',0
I do :
$ speaker-test -c 2
speaker-test 1.0.27.2
Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1022:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Playback open error: -2,No such file or directory
I don't know what else to do here... I got all that from the alsa archwiki page.
Any help would be very much appreciated as I really need to be able to have audio on this machine. Thanks!

While moc has a few optional dependence that clearly have not been installed, it shouldn't just crash w/o them - they're optional.

OP, please search around for threads with the same issues, e.g. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 0#p1259700

Oh thanks, installing pulseaudio worked. Guess I didn't think to look around and see if anyone else had this issue... I feel like a silly.
Thanks once again!
