Hi!
I'm having a few issues regarding openGL/the source engine. Not really sure which one of them is guilty, but I've only encountered the issue in source games so far. It's kind of hard to explain, so here's two pictures of the issue.

The severity is random as it doesn't happen all the time, and sometimes only a few parts of the game is affected (for example the HUD in the first image, while everything but the HUD was affected in the second picture). I'm not running this through wine.
System details?
I'm using an XFX 6850 HD with the catalyst drivers from AMD, so all stock. The driver package version is 13.20. The only changes I've made in the control panel is enabling "anti screen tear" or whatever it is called and disabling v sync. I also have two monitors, one which is 1650*1050 and the other one is 1920*1080.
Edit
After launching X3: Albion Prelude I found that the artifacts are not only present in source games, but other games as well. I don't know what X3: Albion Prelude uses for rendering, but I assume that it's OpenGL as well?

Looks at signature before continuing post
What package [have you installed] and where did you install it from? Have you installed the right version of X and/or kernel?

Claire is fine.
Problems? I have dysgraphia, so clear and concise please.

I've installed the packages catalyst and catalyst-utils. I got them from the [catalyst] repository which is maintained by Vi0L0.

Hmm... Assuming you've followed the Wiki, I can't think of anything.
Maybe try earlier versions of Catalyst (also to be found in Vi0L0's repository)

Huh, downloading and installing the {lib32-,}libtxc_dxtn package fixed the issue for me.

Yeah that has nothing to do with the drivers, thats libraries that source engine games need to function properly regardless of what graphics hardware and drivers you use.
Use the Source, Luke!

I have the same issue and I have lib32-libtxc_dxtn and libtxc_dxtn installed. My issues are not nealy as bad and not often; usually a reboot solves this. I am using the open source AMD drivers for my HD6670. The problem is mostly on Dota 2.
