I tried to follow the install instructions meticulously, and used several wikis as a reference. In one place it says to edit vconsole.conf. However, this file didn't exist, so I had to create it from scratch. Is this normal, or did I miss a step?
I want back through the beginner's and installation guides, but didn't find anything.
From the wording, it seemed like it was an optional step. However, the ecrypted LVM wiki said to add the keymap hook to mkinitcpio.conf. I realized I needed to create vconsole.conf when I got an error running mkinitcpio -p linux.
Everything's working fine, but I just want to know if I missed something.

No, this is one of those files that you do have to create and populate yourself.

At this stage of the installation, you will configure the primary configuration files of your Arch Linux base system. These can either be created if they do not exist, or edited if you wish to change the defaults.

Ok, Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss a critical step.
