Infrared and usb adaptator

I just received my new sound card (Creative Audigy 4) and it works well except the fact that the card is recognized as an Audigy 2.
Anyway I got with the card a remote Infrared controller, but the receptor is connected to the computer by using the usb connection. From the searches I did, Lirc is not supported this kind of device, so I wonder if someone knows a way to make it work
