I would like to copy and paste to and from urxvt. Most often this is accomplished with shift+Insert or the middle mouse button. However, I am on a Chromebook Pixel. Which has a slightly limited keyboard. I have no Insert key. Short of mapping a different key does anyone have an idea of how to proceed?

How about using the middle mouse button (which can usually simulated by clicking the right and the left mouse button at the same time)?

Yeah, I don't have a middle mouse button. the Chromebook pixel being a laptop. However, I did just discover that I can simulate a mouse3 click by literaly using three fingers. I would still prefer a keyboard solution, however. I feel like three clicks could interrupt my "flow".

EDIT: oops, those may be copy only, I'm not sure. There is also shift left-click. But what is wrong with adding a keybinding to urxvt? FYI, you may want to fix your title: you have a shift key, just no insert (apparently).

Thanks Trilby, that might not be exactly what I am looking for but I think it is the right direction. I wasn't fully aware of the scripting possibilities. But that was the direction I was hoping to head.

On some Thinkpad models without an Insert key, Fn+I (function key + letter I) emulates the insert button. Maybe there's a similar combination for the Pixel.
