[Solved] Bttv not able to find eeprom

Have a bttv problem can't tell if the card has failed (intermittently autodetected by kernel module, but other times unknown) or something funny with kernel module.  I am frequently now getting alsa underrun messages when running xawtv.  It gives choppy audio, but lately with the latest kernel updates (there have been several updates recently), dmesg gives messages about not being able to determine the card which usually suceeds with autodetect, but now message of tveeprom: Huh, where did the eeprom go?

Nvm, the external dongle is a point of continuing confusion.
