Hi all!
Is it possible to use pacman through a proxy? (and how?)
Best regards,
Kristian Sørensen.

Not yet... but it's in the TODO list.
To be continued.

Currently, there is absolutely no way to make pacman support
proxy. You can't even intercept its socket connection call by
setting LD_PRELOAD point to a DLL which support proxy
since it's linked statically. This shortcoming makes me very
annoyed.Every time I want to make my system up-to-date with
the Archlinux repository,I had to download the updated
packages from the AL rep to my local disk,,change
/etc/pacman.conf point to my local disk and run pacman -Syu.
That's REALLY annoying. If this little feature can be
incorporated into pacman,I'll be very happy to stay with AL.
BTW,can anybody update me with the current status of the
pacman development?Did the proxy support be incorporated
into the pacman CVS source?Or,will the next release of pacman
include this feature?

I really need this feature too. I no longer use Arch because it just isn't feasable for me. Is there any indication of when this feature will be included?

I hadnt seen that! Thanks for pointing it out. I would prefer native support in pacman, but that should tide me over just fine
