gtk 3.10 systay icon sizes, "gtk-icon-sizes" doesn't work anymore

I'm using awesome-wm with some gtk apps using systray icons. The gtk theme is crux.

With gtk <3.10 this works by adding:

[Settings]
gtk-icon-sizes = panel-menu=16,16:gtk-large-toolbar=16,16

to ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini

With gtk3 3.10.2-1 this doesn't work anymore because gtk-icon-sizes is ignored. The document at https://developer.gnome.org/gtk3/stable … tings.html says it's deprecated and is ignored since 3.10, but there's no point on how to do it now! Typical poor documentation by the gnome project...

PS, btw: For me it would be sufficient if the nm-applet icons can be forced to be smaller.

Re: gtk 3.10 systay icon sizes, "gtk-icon-sizes" doesn't work anymore

Okay, maybe it's some bug in nm-applet. Following https://awesome.naquadah.org/bugs/index … sk_id=1143 it should be solved with nm-applet 0.9.8. But I'm using network-manager-applet 0.9.8.4-2 so I don't know why I'm suffering this problem. It's still flickering here.

Maybe I should read https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=702087 , https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710375 and https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=698901 . The problem is, gnomes bugzilla is down atm. I will try this later.

GTK+ 3.10 intentionally doesn't pay attention to "gtk-icon-sizes" because the current developers want it to have less "obscure" options like this.  I have talked with them about it on IRC and unfortunately they aren't likely to change their minds.
