Gnome 3.10 Lock Screen Turns Off Display

When I lock my session, I see the lock screen pop up then it goes black.  To bring it back up, I have to either move my mouse or press a key on my keyboard to bring it back up, which seems to make it stay up rather than after a short while returning back to the black screen.

Is there a way to make it so that the lock screen stays up rather than going dark?

Thanks ahead of time.

I don't want to work.  I want to bang on the drum all day.

Hmm. I tested gnome 3.8 a while back and it exhibited the same behaviour. gnome 3.6 wasn't like it though. There are some settings in dconf relating to gnome screensaver somewhere in org/gnome which you could try otherwise I don't know.

What happens if you run gnome-screensaver manually in the terminal?

Re: Gnome 3.10 Lock Screen Turns Off Display

[user@machine ~]$ pacman -Qe | grep 'gnome-screensaver'
[user@machine ~]$ gnome-screensaver
bash: /usr/bin/gnome-screensaver: No such file or directory

It is not installed, but to be complete, I will install it to test.

[user@machine ~]$ pacman -Qe | grep 'gnome-screensaver'
gnome-screensaver 3.6.1-6
[user@machine ~]$ gnome-screensaver

** (gnome-screensaver:5446): WARNING **: screensaver already running in this session

It changed nothing about the system, but I uninstalled it afterwards just to put it back the way it was.

Re: Gnome 3.10 Lock Screen Turns Off Display

This is annoying me as well, ideally I would like the lock screen to stay up for a configurable amount of time before shutting off the display.

Re: Gnome 3.10 Lock Screen Turns Off Display

I mentioned this in another thread but for those who missed it I found out that screen locking is provided by gdm. Perhaps there are some gdm settings that can be tweaked to stop the screen blanking instantly. gnome-screensaver definately isn't relavent anymore. The arch package database describe gnome-screensaver as "Legacy GNOME Screensaver"

Re: Gnome 3.10 Lock Screen Turns Off Display

I have created a bug report about this: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710904
Developers have asked why it would be good, so if you have any reasons feel free to add.

Re: Gnome 3.10 Lock Screen Turns Off Display

This issue is extremely annoying, and should be configurable. Maybe not in gnome-control-center, but config option in Tweak Tool would be much appreciated.
