There is no gui so far for mpv.
Use the Source, Luke!

mpv only has internal osc-based gui (screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/eGCISoN.png). You should move your mouse in mpv window and you will see it.
It worked in 0.2.0, but in 0.2.1 it was disabled: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/37495?project=5 (don't know why).

mpv 0.2.1-3 brought the GUI overlay back https://projects.archlinux.org/svntogit … 7bab7e5530

No gui since slave mode seems still to be broken.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for exactly, but cmplayer uses mpv as it's backend.

no, I need a GUI, a front-end for mpv
cmplayer, but I'm not sure, is based on mpv.....because (from official page mpv is described as dependency....)
empirically without the mpv package, cmplayer works...

On my Arch cmplayer had a very odd behaviour that I had to unistall it. Standalone mpv looks almost perfect in spite of nonstandard sound keyboard shortcuts. I wonder slave mode is out of priority list for developers when GUI and DVB TV support is fully depending on that. I would encourage developers to give more attention to the slave mode to satisfy users' natural requirements...

You're better off asking for this as an mpv feature request.

GMP-Video looks promising, but was still missing quite a lot of features when I last tested it, although it was right after it switched to using mpv backend so things have probably improved since.

Since It uses mpv slave mode, it could stop working anytime since slave mode is unsupported by mpv devs.
They want to code to a better one/alternative.
Having a stable *frontend* to mpv today is just not possible yet.

after some months of use I can say GMP-video is the best frontend for mpv
anyway, at least for my usage, mpv GUI is enough for me
