Upgrading to libpulse-4.0-5 and pulseaudio-4.0-5 broke audio system

After upgrading to the version of the packages mentioned in the title, sound simple stopped working altogether, and trying to open pavucontrol gave me the message:

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Downgrading to libpulse-4.0-2 and pulseaudio-4.0-2 solved the problem for now.

Any other solution?

I too am having this problem. Running dmesg shows:

[ 4724.414258] pavucontrol[5120]: segfault at 1770 ip b6962dea sp bfb5d36c error 4 in libc-2.18.so[b68e8000+1a9000]

Unfortunately I don't know much about debugging.

Well did you remove ~/.pulse and ~/.config/pulse also check in /etc/pulse for pacsave files. I am on x86_64 and it work just fine after upgrade.

the issue presists with me,  even after removing ~/.pulse ~/.config/pulse and checking the /etc/

on i686, 3.10.17-1-lts

Update to libpulse-4.0-6 and  pulseaudio-4.0-6 seems to have resolved the problem.
