I have 16GB of ram. I installed linux-pae from http://pae.archlinux.ca/ yet when I boot I still get 3.2 GB of RAM.
Any ideas

Did you use the package from the AUR https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linux-pae/ ? nwm, this seems to be the same thing
Can you posts some more info, logs etc.?

No idea ;P
What's the output of 'uname -a'?
Why are you using PAE instead of a regular 64-bit system?

I get constant headaches with lib32* when using proprietary software. I might switch though I really don't want to reinstall eveything. If PAE works I'll stay.

In the absence of a better plan, let's start with these
uname -a
sudo dmidecode --type 6
You may need to install dmidecode to get the last one.

This looks like the regular Arch kernel. Did you reboot and load the pae kernel?

From what I understand anything over 1Gb + 32 bit = fucked. So I might as well use 16Gb with PAE and get fucked.

Problem solved. GRUB entries were not updated. Silly me.
Thanks very much
