[SOLVED] Virtualbox - Genymotion no connection

Hello,

I changed from Debian to Arch and I like it but one very important tool doesn´t work...Genymotion.

I installed Virtualbox(4.3 from pacman) and Genymotion(1.3 from the website)
After I enabled vboxdrv, vboxnetadp, vboxnetflt Virtualbox was running and Genymotion was able to try starting the virtual Android-Device...trying...
After I click "start" in Genymotion it loads the window but it stay black. In the overview of Virtualbox I can see that the vm is running.

The problem is that Genymotion only starts the vm but after that there is no connection between them, how can I fix that?

Thank you

Edit: Genymotion use Host-Only-Adapter

Re: [SOLVED] Virtualbox - Genymotion no connection

I have no experience with genymotion, but generally, if application isn't available from official repositories, it's preferable to install it via AUR. That way you should get all dependencies, and possibly some other tweaks that could be required on arch automagically.

Genymotion aur package can be found here. If you don't know what to do with it, check instuctions in arch wiki.

At least make sure that you have all the dependencies listed on the PKGBUILD installed, if you don't want to start messing with aur packages right now.

Re: [SOLVED] Virtualbox - Genymotion no connection

I agree and I will use the AUR now.

Ok I deinstalled Virtualbox and Virtualbox Hostmodules (pacman -Rsn) and deleted the genymotion files (It was only a .bin file wich created his own directorys).
After that I used the AUR-Way. But same Problem hmm

Maybe it is important that I used Networkmanager and deinstalled netctl or must I set up the host only adapter with dhcp manual?
Thank you

Re: [SOLVED] Virtualbox - Genymotion no connection

did you check ~/.Genymobile/genymotion.log (if that's the correct path) for any errors?

EDIT: See while posting:

Nov 2 12:28:47 [920] [Debug] Waiting for an IP address...

After that get it the IP adress? I think no...

EDIT2:
Ahhh sry

Nov 2 12:28:56 [920] [Debug] Genymotion system started. Attributed IP address: "10.0.3.15"

But why 10.0.3.15?
The host only Adapter has 192.168.56.1
And the DHCP-Server on that adapter 192.168.56.100

Re: [SOLVED] Virtualbox - Genymotion no connection

One Step clother to solve the problem.

Wrong IP: Delete the vm and create a new with the tool genymotion (same way before but now with the right IP 192.168.56.xxx)

While testing the tool again under Debian I see the following in genymotion-player.log

Nov 4 16:32:38 [920] [Debug] Events Manager connected
Nov 4 16:32:38 [920] [Debug] Player running. Try to show window...

"Events Manager"...What is that? I think that will solve the problen smile

Re: [SOLVED] Virtualbox - Genymotion no connection

SOLVED.

I reinstalled virtualbox and under recomendet tools I saw "net-tools for Bridge and Host-Only support"
Now it works all fine smile
