Booting Arch (x86_64) from live USB stick (2013.11.01) leads to reboot

Hi,

so, i've refurbished a Dell Latitude E5510 with some 8Gig Ram (Kingston HyperX PnP) and an SSD (Samsung 840 Evo), and wanted to install ARCH (which i've done several times before), and this problem occurred:

- created Live USB Stick using dd (like recommended in the Installation Guide)
- tried to boot Arch x86_64 live system

result:
Arch starts to boot, but then the system reboots involutarily without warning.

Booting i686 seems to work, but i don't want to install that ...

Memtest leads to involuntary reboot as well ... maybe a memory issue ?

Update:  ok, installed the old memory again, now it seems to work, both memtest and bootup ... so, is the memory broken or what, or just some config error ?

It is not that the memory is broken, you chose the wrong memory for your laptop.

Search a bit further on the site, and you will find HyperX is mainly used for desktop pc's.

Do you even know wtf you just said...?

OP that ram is fine for that machjne. Perhaps you had a bad stick. Try memtesting each one individually, in either slot.
