Freeing disk space

Howdy all big_smile

Been a while since I've been in the forums, it's good to be back here wink

I was a-wondrin' what I can get rid of to free some disk space? I've got rid of the contents of /var/cache/pacman/pkg and /tmp , but what else can I safely wipe that might contribute noticeably to my free space?

Re: Freeing disk space

hm.... maybe some of the logs in /var/logs, if they aren't being cleaned up automatically. Check some of the other folders in /var. Check the output of pacman -Qe and remove any packages you don't need. If you want to get a bit crazy, you might be able to remove some stuff in /usr/share, but that can be dangerous. Go through /etc and remove extraneous or old configuration files and .pacnews and such. Get rid of your porn directory...

Re: Freeing disk space

cleaning /var/cache/pacman/src or running su -c "makepkg -C" might help too.

@ Dusty
i wonder why logrotate.conf disables compression per default.  big_smile

# uncomment this if you want your log files compressed
#compress
