Hey,
I want to dualboot Windows 8 and Arch on my new Notebook with a SSD, i7 and 8GB of RAM.
First of all, I shrunk my Windows 8 partition in Windows and let the space unallocated. I manually installed rEFInd (running Windows) with this description http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/installing.html#windows . It worked fine, after disabling the fast-bootoption and secure-bootoption in my BIOS-settings. The rEFInd menu shows when I start my system. Then,I created a bootable USB and put the offical Arch-isoimage on it. I tried several ways for this step (f.ex. Rufus, or just extract all the files on the USB and format it with the right label, etc.)
When I start the computer after plugging in the usb-stick the arch-entry shows up in the bootmenue but when I try do boot arch it says "failed to alloc lowmem for boot params".
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.
Edit: okay I formatted my usb-stick on a different Computer and now I just get a black screen, when I choose the first option in the menu. Not what it should do, but the orignial message doesn't show anymore.
