For a few days now Amarok has been painfully slow to start this both with a new profile and my old plus it consumes a lot of memory. It takes several minutes for it to start and when I quit it takes alomst the same amount before it finally releases the memory it was using. Anybody else experiencing this ATM?

amarok uses opengl features when he starts,
so if you have opengl problems with your graphic card driver it may cause problem to amarok,
under virtualbox amarok is unable to start, but if I disable opengl acceleration in graphic driver settings amarok can start, this may be a clue for your problem

I don't have any opengl problems with my graphics card. I can play games just fine. One other problem I've noticed with amarok when running and I want for example change the cover on an album and I want to use a cover on my HDD it takes amarok also several minutes until it lets me do it. That meaning, I can select my home partition and I have to wait for several minutes and then I can search through the partition and find the cover I want.
