qemu guide

Hi,

i decided to experiment with qemu last nite and followed the wiki, but got stuck at these commands:

qemu -cdrom [[cdrom''image]] -boot d [[hd''image]]

Some Googling lead me to the xhost+ command but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated... yikes thanks.

[root@dragon ~]# qemu -cdrom winxpcd.iso -boot d win.qcow

Re: qemu guide

run xhost as your user, that will then permit root to run X applications on your desktop.

Re: qemu guide

Ok, now i have windows in qemu. I have a few questions, regarding partition.

Is there any partitioning program similar to Partition Magic that I can use to delete my primary windows partition and move my linux partition to fill up the primary partition? i tried doing this with Partition Magic in windows last time and it screwed my Linux installation. QTparted doesn't have such options the last time i tried it.

the reason i'm asking is that i want to make Linux as my primary partition, but wanna avoid the hassle of remormatting my entire disk. plus, my Arch installation has been setup pretty nicely over the last few months, and i don't wanna waste time doing them all over again. wink

inputs appreciated. thanks.

Re: qemu guide

those "ghost-like" programs may be of interest :
- ntfsclone
- dd
- cat
- mkisofs

Sorry I have no time to go deeper for now
