The gxine plugin does something similar, however, if you double click whatever is showing, if highlights the whole thing so you can copy paste... might work with mplayer too.

Nope, but I'd love to hear about one - does yours play at least? On Three different boxen, all I get is that and "buffering" all the way up to 99 where it fails. I've more or less given up on in-line audio like that.

I don't suppose scrolling the mouse wheel down while hovering over that area does the job? Or holding down the LMB and dragging downwards?

If you start gmplayer with gmplayer > /dev/tty 2>&1 | grep -i mms, does that show anything up in the terminal when you have an mms address present?

Hmm... is it likely that it stores it temporarily in a file somewhere, or will it just be kept in RAM?
I assume there's no way of saving or bookmarking an mms source you've used before?
.oO Komodo Dave Oo.

tough question.. Ive tried different things.. mainly finding the mms source in the site code.. has worked with many sites, but not this one. couldnt find it anywhere.. not even in the javascript.
I am not sure how mplayerplugin handles that. As you said temporary file i got like a hunch it could be stored in .mplayer folder in the users home catalog.. thanx for enlightning me I will check the .mplayer for some temp files..
let you know if I find anything

mms streaming doesn't work quite that well in mplayer as you'd like it too.
Consider this link Onet.pl TV.
NOTE:
It might ask you a question (translation): Propably you're using a system different from Windows or your browser doesn't support JS.
Answer: NIE (no) - opens theclip in embedded player (mplayer-plugin for me)
Answer: TAK (yes) - tries to open in an external player
This clip (and any other from this site) just doesn't work in mplayer. IT shows the broadcasters logo, but then nothing happens. It does work in xine, but the quality is awefull (while the clip under windows looks good).
When I try to play this with mplayer, i get

When I start firefox from the command line, I believe the MPlayer-plugin outputs the URL to the terminal while it's running.

Heey, maybe this is a bit offtopic but it looks like a lot of mplayer-plugins profs are gathered here. I have one single problem, if i want to see a online movie (like apple trailers) fullscreen, it doesn't really do fullscreen, only maximizes a window. Anybody familiar with this problem?

Ok, I was looking at the mplayer man page and saw this:
-dumpstream (MPlayer only)
Dumps the raw stream to ./stream.dump. Useful when ripping from DVD or net-
work.
Maybe if you do mplayer -dumpstream, then grep ./stream.dump for mms, you'll find your answer? The file will be full of unreadable crap, but it's a question of whether the info will be there... even if it's not, if you do mplayer -dumpstream > /dev/tty 2>&1 then maybe some info about the source will show up in the terminal.
Give it a shot anyway, and let us know if it works

I just thought, maybe our approach of finding the fix within mplayer is wrong... couldn't you just monitor your connection with ethereal, and get the IP for wherever the mms source is? will that work?
