Re: no sound in with a .mkv file with mplayer

I know this is codecs fault.. no codec to decode the sound, therefore no sound.. only with mkv files.

Sound works with other files, such as avi, mpeg mp3..

Maybe you are playing a non-interleaved stream/file or the codec failed?
For AVI files, try to force non-interleaved mode with the -ni option.

Re: no sound in with a .mkv file with mplayer

well.. no wonder.. I only have this:

[root@estergon ~]# pacman -Qs codec
local/codecs 20050412-2
    Non-linux native codec pack. (Win32, Real9, QuickTime)
local/flac 1.1.2-3
    Free Lossless Audio Codec
local/libtheora 1.0alpha5-1
An open video codec developed by the Xiph.org
local/libvorbis 1.1.2-1
    Vorbis codec library

There'll only be one that provides support for it, and I think it's the 'codecs' package that comes with Arch Base (though I may be wrong).

It sounds like it may very well be something wrong with your file...

very likely that mkv file uses the m4a codec for sound, can't find it in pacman though hmm
