Is my graphic card dead?

An hour ago my brother tried to start a 3D game he usually plays (via wine) and the screen just went black. I restarted and the screen remains blank when system starts to boot. Tried a live CD and I could only boot into desktop if I use VESA graphic mode, otherwise: black screen. I have Arch, Debian and Mint on my box, the same behaviour for all three distros. What surprised me is that Windows XP works fine. If it werent for this, I'd suspect my card is dead.

Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks.
