[SOLVED] EDIMAX EW-7128Gn

Hello,

I'd like to build a new computer, and I'm looking for a flawless and stable wireless controller. After digging in the web, I've come across the EDIMAX EW-7128Gn. It is cheap and I think it would be compatible with my Huawei HG532c router, as well as with the motherboard I've chosen (ASUS Z87-PLUS).

I found this table. However, it seems that the same device can be sold with several chipsets, and each one has a different degree of support. So, does anybody know if the mentioned hardware meets my requirements?

Thanks in advance,
Kalrish

P.S.: it would be nice if the device could be used from within the Live Arch.

Re: [SOLVED] EDIMAX EW-7128Gn

The particular device you linked to uses the rt2800pci driver. It should work fine, but I have no personal experience with Ralink chipsets. Though for that price I'd go with this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6833704129, it's faster (300Mbps vs 150Mbps), it uses the ath9k driver which I do have experience with and therefore know it works well.

If you want to go cheaper, this will do, also uses the ath9k driver: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6833704059

Both rt2800pci and ath9k will work from the Arch install media.

Thanks! The device you linked seems pretty good, I'll buy that instead!

Thanks, marking as "Solved". Best regards,
