Touchpad doesn't work when touchegg is run from .xinitrc

Hi there! I updated to the new kernel last night and my touchpad does not work. I've never had mouse issues, so I'm not sure where to start looking for answers. Help?

Update: My touchpad is behaving like a touchscreen - my touchegg bindings work on it. I tried killing touchegg, to no avail.

Update 2: Disabled touchegg, re-intsalled synaptics, restarted x - touchpad works. If I start touchegg manually after that, both of them work concurrently. I've updated the topic of this post.
