I typed, "yaourt oculus" and installed all packages ibex-git, libovr_nsb-git, oculus-udev, and openhmd-git. Enabled the oculus rift as a display with arandr and started up TF2. In options >> video there is a option to enable virtual reality. The option is grayed out and it says no vr display was detected. My oculus rift is plugged in and working. It works on windows. What am I missing here?

Does it have anything to do with AUR? I have no idea if I even needed to install anything... It was probably just a settings issue...

Those packages only exist in the AUR, which is not a part of Arch that is maintained by developers. Items in the AUR are submitted by members and are managed by Trusted Users. We move all threads related to AUR issues to the AUR sub-forum.

Does getting the oculus rift to work have anything to do with those packages? I have no idea. I was merely explaining what I had tried.
