Gnome Shell 3.10.2.1 - High CPU Usage

Hi,
I have installed Arch in a virtual box and I have had problems with  Gnome 3's CPU Usage
It has been constantly above ~180%.

All four of the CPU cores are  above 50%

I am starting Gnome Shell with:

$ sudo systemctl start gdm.service

I have tried, as suggested here, to start Gnome using

startx

with .xinitrc containing:

 exec ck-launch-session gnome-session

But this failed to start Gnome Shell, just returning me to be to a prompt. /var/logs/Xorg-*-log showed no sign that something had gone wrong.

As I am running it in virtualbox, I am using the virtualbox guest edition drivers. The virtual box has 4 Processor cores, and 4GB of RAM.

Kernel: 3.12.6-1 ARCH
Gnome Shell: 3.10.2.1

Re: Gnome Shell 3.10.2.1 - High CPU Usage

The instructions you followed are obsolete (in particular, ConsoleKit is deprecated). Try exec gnome-session without the ck- part.
