Blank screen when waking up from sleep

I'm using Arch Linux on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. I'm also using Gnome Shell as my desktop environment. Recently I started experiencing a strange issue when putting the laptop to sleep. When the laptop wakes up all I see is a blank screen. However, if I switch to a terminal using Ctrl+Alt+F2 I can see a terminal. When I switch back to X using Ctrl+Alt+F1 I can see the lock screen. The lock screen won't show unless I switch to a terminal and switch back.

My display controller:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 0c)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (secondary) (rev 0c)

Re: Blank screen when waking up from sleep

does  it possible that you have dpms set?
What if you push any other button? does the lock show up?

...why not

Re: Blank screen when waking up from sleep

Running

xset -dpms

seems to solve this. Thanks!
But if I understand correctly, disabling dpms will prevent screen power saving. Is there any way to keep dpms without experiencing this issue?
