[solved] Error: Failed to mount the real root device

I am trying to install Arch Linux on a UEFI laptop. When I boot, I get these options:

Arch Linux archiso x86_64 UEFI CD
UEFI Shell x86_64 v1
UEFI Shell x86_64 v2
EFI Default Loader
Reboot Into Firmware Interface

I selected the first option, and this is what shows up:

I also can't use any partitioning commands like fdisk, gdisk, etc. What should I do?

I/O error, dev sr0 means that it can't read something on the optical drive. There was probably a problem in the burn.

I tried writing it to two other disks with two different programs and both of the programs told me that the disk couldn't be read properly. Does this have something to do with the image? Should I try an older image?

Could have something to do with your burner.

Personally, I would just ditch the CDs and use a USB flash drive: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/US … tion_Media

If that's not an option, PXE maybe?

Thanks a lot Scimmia. It boots up just fine now. Now I can install Arch Linux.
