Extending netflix-desktop with flash

Hi,

I have a dedicated boot for watching streaming video. I have installed the netflix-desktop from AUR. In addition to Netflix, I'd like to watch directv also, which requires both a wine (firefox) browser and flash. I could go through the entire wine install and create a prefix with a Flash-enabled Windows Firefox browser (i've been through this excersise on another Arch machine). But, it would seem more minimal if I could somehow install Flash in the wine browser that netflix-desktop spawns.

Does anyone know how to extend the netflix-desktop's browser with Flash?

Why not just use pipelight? It supports both silverlight and flash, and is significantly less resource-intensive than netflix-desktop. It also tends to work better.

Re: Extending netflix-desktop with flash

I see HG beat me to it, but I'll second the recommendation for pipelight.  I was very happy to use netflix-desktop for a bit when it came out, but it still always felt a bit hackish and awkward.  Pipelight really is the netflix-for-linux I was waiting for - it lets me forget that netflix actually hates us. wink

Nice!

Pipelight works well. I have Amazon Instant, Netflix, and Directv working.

The tennischannel.com live stream crashes Flash but it's probably a user-agent tweek or other randomly identifiable fix.

I'm glad you got it worked out. Please remember to add [Solved] to the beginning of your thread title.
