I ran pacman -Syu, and got this message:
rEFInd UEFI application has been installed at /usr/share/refind/refind_*.efi
Other UEFI applications have been installed at /usr/share/refind/tools_*/
UEFI drivers have been installed at /usr/share/refind/drivers_*/
Copy the efi application (according to your UEFI ARCH)
and /usr/share/refind/refind.conf-sample to a sub-directory of <EFISYS>/EFI/
as refind.conf and add an entry to firmware boot menu using efibootmgr
or mactel-boot (for Macs)
rEFInd Icons have been installed at /usr/share/refind/icons/
rEFInd Fonts have been installed at /usr/share/refind/fonts/
HTML Documentation is available at /usr/share/doc/refind/html/
More info: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/UEFI_Bootloaders#Using_rEFIndI copied refind_x64.efi into /boot/efi/refind and then did not update the refind.conf (as here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=173697) or add an entry to the firmware boot menu.
My computer now boots to a black screen. Is there any way to fix this?
Hard drive layout:
sda1 EFI partition
sda2 btrfs partition for everything else
Using the install disk to check, it now appears that /boot is empty and that the efi directory has disappeared from /sys/firmware. Do I need to set up rEFInd again?
Thanks a lot in advance.
EDIT:
The problem was that I didn't follow instructions and didn't add a new menu item. The reason /sys/firmware/efi didn't exist was that I wasn't booted in UEFI mode.
