I just thought of something. Would dhcpcd cause a conflict with wicd? I think I remember seeing that under "systemctl --type=service", but figured it was supposed to be there. I don't have my laptop with me, but I will try disabling it when I get home.

I ran "systemctl stop dhcpcd", and of course, now I can connect wirelessly. It looks like wicd needs dhcpcd in order to function. I am hoping that "systemctl disable dhcpcd" will keep the two from stepping on each other's toes in the future.
