Hello all,
Been trying for ages now to get the backlight working properly on my Lenovo Y510P. It's really annoying when the backlight is on full brightness when I'm in a more dim lit area or when I'm trying to conserve battery. I've seen this thread which has lead to some useful troubleshooting, but still hasn't lead to any results.
I've changed my grub config so that it has both acpi_osi=Linux and acpi_backlight=vendor. With this, I have the /sys/class/backlight/ideapad/ directory, but if I was to change the brightness file in there, nothing happens.
I also went through a lot of the information on the Backlight Wiki page to no avail. For example, if I try to use the xbacklight command, I just get an error saying "No outputs have backlight property", that's it.
Now, I'm at a loss, not sure what I can do or where else to go from here. If anyone could provide any help, it would be very much appreciated!

From the Intel wiki there are a few suggestions including:
- the creation of an /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf file
- the use of the acpi_osi="!Windows 2012" kernel parameter
Did you try either of those suggestions and did they work?
